I was asked to paint this monstrous wall as part of the Outsiders show at The New Art Gallery Walsall. Weighing in a whopping 26m x 5m, I thought it would take a month to paint. Thankfully I finished within my 10 day window, even got to take that 10th day off. So here we are, 9 days in Walsall – The Masters of the Universe.
Chloe’s new show opens this week at Stolenspace Gallery from the 14th of November until the 30th. Titled ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Spinning in Space’, the show will feature 9 new oil paintings on linen and aluminum. Check back in a few days for photos of all the show pieces.
This is one of my favourite walls. I had only planned on doing 1 piece in NY so I wasn’t prepared for this one on the front of the gallery, alongside David Choe’s piece. The source image wasn’t great so I went to town on the abstract part almost totally obscuring the image. You have to work hard at it to figure it out. Thats the way it should be.
And so the time came for the Lazarides group show in NY. This was brewing for a while and I was doubled over with excitement for months as I hadn’t been to NY in 5 years. We took over an old abandoned building on the corner of Bowery and Houston and turned it into a magnificently raw exhibition space featuring new work from the great and the good at Lazarides. In the end over 30,000 people came through the doors over the 4 weeks.
